Elegance, organic style, and an intimate scale were kept in mind while brainstorming design ideas.
The client objective was to create a cozy and romantic master spa retreat with a subtle reference to the rustic details in the rest of the home.
This master bath sits on the second floor master wing. The entire stair area and railing were removed and redesigned, and the bath area was gutted and remodeled. Windows were added, and a custom leaded glass focal window was designed for the tub area. Separate rooms for bathing, showering, and his and hers vanity areas were requested. Distressed reclaimed beams and lintels were added to reinforce the new symmetrical sight lines and to create a rustic style. The custom railing design detail was carried to other areas of the home, including balconies and front door. A custom chandelier in the stair has modern flair but is made of hammered and seeded art glass and is handcrafted in California.
The central focal shower is enclosed within a translucent grass resin panel for privacy and light transfer and is accessed by both ‘her’ vanity space and ‘his’ separate vanity and closet area.
A light neutral taupe and cream palette of textured tile and custom painted millwork, along with polished nickel and hammered nickel fixtures, combine to deliver a desert spa feel with rustic charm.
