The wavy wall within Amy (and Jay) Klosterman's own home was a visually dramatic answer to the desire for a unique and stylish 12′ focal fireplace wall within a family room space. It is a modern wall that boldly defines the style for the area. It needed to accommodate a TV & 72″ linear fireplace, books and art objects, as well as convenient storage for coffee table clutter.
Dated niches were removed and replaced with rows of 3-dimensional wavy panels featuring shapes that seem to change when viewed from the left vs the right— one direction is an undulating flow and the other is more jagged. The 12′ wall now accommodates art objects, books and media equipment. Built-in LED lighting between the curved panels and along the ceiling line provides an ambient glow at night. A three-inch open space along the top of the waves allows for venting of fireplace heat into the room. One of the wavy panels pulls out for secret storage as well as functional access to the fireplace and rear of tv within the wall!
The living room space and foyer is elegant and fresh — an inviting entry for friends and family.
